Submit a life certificate for a parent's pension

Pensioners must prove they are alive once a year, in November, to keep getting their pension. Pensioners aged 80 or more can do it from 1 October.

Keep these ready

Steps

  1. If your parent is in India: submit a digital life certificate on Jeevan Pramaan using Aadhaar authentication, or at the bank or post office.
  2. If your parent lives abroad: get the life certificate signed by an officer of the Indian embassy or consulate, a notary, a magistrate, or an officer of an Indian bank's branch there. Jeevan Pramaan also works from abroad if your parent has Aadhaar.
  3. Send the signed certificate to the bank or office that pays the pension, before 30 November.
  4. Check with the pension-paying bank that it has been accepted.
  5. Note the date for next year: 1 to 30 November, or from 1 October for those aged 80 or more.
