Update OCI details after a new passport

When you get a new foreign passport, you may need to upload it on the OCI portal. A new OCI card is needed only once: for the first new passport issued after you turn 20.

Keep these ready

• New passport
• Old passport
• OCI card
• Recent photo

Steps

1. Check your age on the date the new passport was issued.
2. Issued before you turned 20, or the first new passport after you turned 50: upload a copy of the new passport and a recent photo on the OCI services portal within 3 months. This is free.
3. First new passport issued after you turned 20: apply for OCI re-issue once. After that, later passports do not need re-issue.
4. Until the update or re-issue is done, carry both the old and the new passport with your OCI card when you travel.
5. Save the acknowledgement from the portal.
