Check a job or visa offer before you pay

Fake recruiters ask for money up front. Only recruiting agents registered with the Ministry of External Affairs may recruit for jobs abroad.

Keep these ready

• Agent's name and registration number
• Offer letter and contract

Steps

1. Search for the recruiting agent on eMigrate and check that the licence is valid.
2. Check that the employer and the job offer are real, and read the contract before you sign.
3. Never pay into a personal account. Registered agents can charge only a capped service fee, with a receipt.
4. Report a fake agent to the Protector of Emigrants or on eMigrate.
