Do re-KYC without visiting the branch
Banks ask for KYC to be updated every few years. RBI rules let you do it without visiting the branch.
Keep these ready
- Passport
- New address proof, if your address changed
- Registered email and mobile number
Steps
- Check the bank's message, email or net banking for the date your re-KYC is due.
- If nothing has changed, send the self-declaration through net banking, the bank's app or your registered email.
- If your address changed, send proof of the new address in the same way. The bank must check it within two months.
- If the bank needs fresh KYC documents, ask for video KYC (V-CIP), which you can do from abroad with your passport.
- Keep the acknowledgement. If the account was frozen, ask the bank to remove the freeze once KYC is done.
