Open an NRE or NRO account from abroad
Most large banks let you open an NRI account online with attested document copies.
Keep these ready
- Passport and visa or residence permit
- Overseas address proof
- PAN card (or Form 60)
- Indian address proof
Steps
- Choose a bank that opens NRI accounts online
- Get your KYC documents attested from (any one) Embassy, Notary, Bank, Judge or Magistrate
- Fill in the online form and choose NRE, NRO or both
- Upload attested copies of passport, visa or residence permit, overseas address proof and PAN
- Send the original documents to the branch or Indian address shared by the bank
- Fund the account from NRE/NRO account or from abroad to activate it
